Languages and foreigners
Tourists and expats who can speak English will probably be OK in Sri Lanka. Only if you are working in a remote village would you need a translator. English is widely spoken and expected in conversations with foreigners. Most international companies use English and many larger local organisations too. Colleagues may use Tamil and Sinhalese if no foreigners are present, or alternatively they may use English.
